I'm just curious to hear from some of you who are playing Oakland tonight. Every way I cap this game it comes up KC. What are some solid reasons to take Oakland?

I believe people are over thinking on oakland, but it is NFL. Anything is possible.

There are several good reasons to take Oakland tonight:

Top 10 reasons to play Oakland on the money line tonight.

1. KC is 0-4 last 4 at Oakland
2. KC is playing their 3rd road game in last 4 games.
3. In this series, favorite of at least 4 points or greater is 1-8 ats
4. Oakland gets back both Jerry Porter and Mo Collins for tonights game
5. Oakland's special teams- everybody knows how good KC's special teams are but everyone is forgetting about how strong Janikowski's leg is (leads league in touchbacks) and that Lechtler is the best punter in the league (long directional punting)
6. Oakland is the King of Monday Night
7. In a similar situation last year, Oakland had lost 4 games in a row going to Denver, and they simply went out and spanked the Broncos
8. Kansas City as a franchise has never won 7 games in a row. Tonight would be 7.
9. Oakland is 0-6 ats overall in 2003. The law of averages is due.
10. Oakland needs this game worse than Kansas City.

jgerson,
don't mis-interpret, i said favs of 4-6 pts are 1-8 ats since 81.
favorites of 7 pts or more are 6-1 ats since 87.
as far as the law of averages go."NEVER BUT NEVER COUNT ON THE LAW OF AVERAGES!"
the raiders needed every game bad starting with last years superbowl.
i have to admit, today i was overthinking this and trying to find reasons for the raiders to cover.
this was silly....
RAIDERS DO SUCK.
CHIEFS ARE REALLY GOOD.
AND ANYTHING LESS THAN DOUBLE-DIGITS IS A GIFT.

TIME TO DOUBLE-UP.

GAME.

I'm not saying the Raiders are world beaters and I do agree that right now Kansas City is the better team. But keep in mind that the main reason KC has won the last 3 games is Dante Hall. They have won by 6 in overtime at Green Bay, won by 1 point vs Denver, and won by 7 at Baltimore. Their first 3 games were convincing though against inferior competion in San Diego, Houston, and Pittsburgh. The Chiefs are ripe to get beat tonight. Another game this one reminds me a lot of is the Raiders/Rams game last year. With KC undefeated playing the role of the Raiders and the Raiders playing the role of the hapless Rams. Last year when the Rams were 0-5 they had the worst record in football but no one saw them as the worst team in football. A loss tonight and the next 9 games for the Raiders won't be must wins but games to get ready for 2004.

kc, 4th road game in 5 weeks.
oak is back home after back to back road games.

kc is overrated. vs balt, they needed a td to be called back on bal and a kick return to win. vs denver, they needed a block in the back on a punt return to win. vs GB they trailed 14-0 and by 17 in the 4th qtr and needed an int return to set up OT, then they have their FG blocked, and then a.green fumbles after gaining 15 yards and kc recovers.

in other words, kc has beaten 1-5 SD, 2-4 pitt, and 2-4 houston, and pulled 3 other games out of their arse.

KC has never been 7-0, vermeil has been 6-0 3x, but never 7-0

yesterday the public cleaned up with dallas, tenn, sd, minn, NO. they gave some back at 4, but the books need this and will get it.

Ok, I see a few trends and "intangible" reasons for Oakland, here are a few real reasons why I have to take KC tonight. Raider run defense has been horrific this year. Of Oakland's 6 opponents 5 of them have their season HIGH rushing performance against the Raiders. That includes high powered rushing teams like Chicago, Cleveland, and San Diego. Against those three they averaged giving up almost 200 yards per game on the ground!! Not to mention there D is extremely banged up. Also Gannon is 27th in the league for passing yards per attempt (5.2) and they pass more than any team in the league (65% of the time). If you pass that much in the NFL it spells disaster. The oddsmakers anticipated Oakland would get some play because they are usually money at home on Monday night. Well tonight KC is simply the better team and should win this by 10.

good teams, championship teams find ways to win, that's a fact. the chiefs have done this.
now as far as the reason they won games is dante hall, is silly by it's very nature.
kc was down to green bay by double digits, twice.
dante hall, didn't pick one off, he didn't cause fumbles, he didn't run the ball, throw the ball, block the defensive pash rush or call the plays to bring them to the victory.
this was a team effort, make no mistake, everyone on kc right now is playing like dante hall.
from trent green, to the recievers, to the running backs, to the linemen, to the coaches.
you don't get to 6-0 in the nfl because one guy ran back 4 or 5 punts.
that's a fact.

Are you saying those returns didn't mean a lot to this team being 6-0?

so d. hall won all 6 of these games for kc by running back one return in each?

kc has scored 27,41,42,17,24 and 40 pts this year.
one punt or kickoff return didn't make any more of a difference than the blocks that set him up or the clipping calls that were missed or the rest of the offense scoring 30 extra points as well, or the defense for that matter holding opponents to an average of 20 points.

you don't agree?

Simple question for you: What was their margin of victory in each of those games he ran back a kick for a td? Were any less than 7 pts?

Then that would make them 4-2 without those two td's, theoretically. And don't discount the momentum swings a return puts on a game. But it's all just hypothesis anyway.... GL on your plays tonite.
